Please join Alon Shalev, Executive Director of the American Friends of Hand-in-Hand, to learn about Hand-in-Hand’s trailblazing educational programs in Israel.

Alon will also share how the schools and communities have been coping together since the events of October 7th.

Hand-in-Hand operates six bilingual, multicultural public schools from Jerusalem to the Galilee, fostering a new generation of Palestinian/Arabs and Jews equipped to live side by side, as partners and peers. In addition, they bring their thousands-strong adult community members together in celebration, dialogue, and shared community programs. 

Born in the U.K., Alon Shalev lived in Israel for 20 years and was a founding member of Kibbutz Lotan. Prior to assuming the role of Executive Director of American Friends of Hand in Hand, Alon was the Executive Director of the Western Region of the American Jewish World Service (AWJS) for ten years. “More than anything, Alon believes that sustainable change will come through our youth."
