Join the Social Action Committee for a virtual viewing of 1913: Seeds of Conflict (2015)a one-hour documentary about Palestine during the latter part of the Ottoman Empire. Filmmaker Ben Loeterman argues that this was a time of relative harmony between Arabs and Jews. 1913 addresses the question of how this land of milk and honey, so diverse and rich in culture, become the site of today’s bitter and seemingly intractable struggle.

The screening will be followed by a discussion led by civics educator Ati Waldman.

Ati Waldman works across the United States and the world to help young people learn how to discuss politically sensitive public issues and to engage in civic life. Her experience includes working in the Boston area and in Jerusalem with Palestinian and Jewish-Israeli youth through Mosaic: Interfaith Youth Action and Seeds of Peace. Ati holds an M.A. in International Education Policy from Harvard University and is a member of Temple B’nai Brith.
