Round Robin Shabbat Dinners
TBB members and friends have been welcoming Shabbat together at home
with our monthly Round Robin Shabbat dinners. The Round Robin dinners
are a great opportunity to spend some informal time wth other members
of TBB and get to know each other better, as well as a chance to do something
a little different for Shabbat dinner. Each dinner is different—we've had
many styles of menus, hopping parties and quiet groups around the dining room
table, and a taste of each host's style of welcoming Shabbat at home.
Please consider
attending a dinner or hosting one soon!
Here's how it works:
- An email will go out to the TBB email list asking for people to volunteer to open their homes to host a Shabbat Dinner.
- Prospective hosts will decide the theme of their Shabbat Dinner, for example:
- Formal and complete Kiddush or abbreviated Kiddush
- Pot luck or not
- Kosher or kosher style
- Vegetarian, vegan, dairy, meat or fish
- Children welcome or no children
- Families with children under five welcome or teenagers encouraged
- Bench (Birkhat Hamazon) or no bench
- Singles, couples, mixed
- Large buffet or small intimate group
- Start exactly at candle lighting time or later
- Etc. — you decide
- Prospective hosts will have one week to respond and will need to provide contact information (email or phone number) so that participants can get in touch with hosts.
- The following week an email will go out to the TBB email list inviting people to participate, providing contact information, and giving one week to respond. People may respond directly to a host or to a point person.
- The night of the Round Robin Shabbat, participants will visit hosts, meet fellow TBB members, and welcome Shabbat together.
